In February of 2021, at 51 years of age, and in the midst of the global Covid pandemic, I made the decision to sell my business interests and do something I’d not done before; attend college.

Having always had a strong interest in aviation, and aviation history, I chose the Aviation Maintenance Program of Canadore College (AMT). After the first term of AMT, I made the decision to adjust my program and work towards the aviation specialty of Aviation Structures Technician (ASR). This change allowed me to focus on repair and reconstruction of airframes rather than general maintenance.

In June 2023 I graduated, with honours, from the ASR programme with a 3.91 GPA, and was awarded the Juan Gonzalez Cerdeira Memorial Scholarship based faculty recommendations.

To the right is the ASR program term final project - a miners lunch box.
