As a life long Doctor Who fan, I’m shocked at myself that it took me until 2021 to create a replica of the TARDIS. As everyone knows, each Doctor has their own slightly different TARDIS design, however mine isn’t based on any specific one. Instead I purposefully made a bit of a mish-mash of various TARDIS’ so that it sort of looks like all of them. The model was created in Blender, then 3D printed. Special Fx are driven by an Arduino UNO and a sample board. I wrote the C code for the Arduino and its momentary on/off switch is hidden under the London manhole cover, which you press down and hold to see the SFx.
I’m not all that thrilled with the grass on the base. The cobblestone is okay, but the grass is not what I’d hoped. I’ll probably redo that at some point. Click images below for more details.
Base mesh modelled in Blender 3.1.
The final print from an AnyCubic Mono 4K.
Loonie for scale.
Primed and painted TARDIS blue. Placards created in Illustrator.
An Arduino and sound board handle SFx. I wrote the Arduino C code.
The LED stack. These are for the main windows, the light on top has it's own LED.
The TARDIS custom base, made from various stuff.
The momentary switch is under the custom made London sewer man cover.
