Canuck Model Products was an online hobby store and custom model decal printer. Scale model decals are printed using the screen printing method. While similar to the method used to create t-shirts, for decals, a specialized screen printing press is required that can print extremely fine, legible text at 1mm heights.
To accomplish this, I had to design and build some special equipment that could not be purchased, most notably, the screen exposure system (aka, “the contraption”). Most screen printing exposure systems use multiple lights as their source, but to obtain the extremely fine details required for scale model decals, I had to design and build a system with just one, powerful halogen light system.
Canuck was a one man army, I did all product research, all graphical design and art creation, screen press operation, special equipment design and construction, website design and development, marketing, etc… If a job needed doing, I did it.
Canuck Models was very successful and was able to sponsor many events and event awards during its time. Below are several review articles from a variety of international scale modelling magazines.
Canuck Model was also the only model manufacturing company to have an official license with the Royal Canadian Airforce to produce full model kits of the CF-18 Hornet in RCAF airshow markings. This product included production of kits, box art design and distribution.
